Welcome!

Educators come in all shapes and sizes: teachers, administrators, librarians, homeschoolers, ministry leaders, social workers, coaches and more. And, as someone who was raised in a family of educators, I must say, I have a soft spot for all educators.

Hi, I’m Julie Watson Smith, MHS. I’m a Leadership and Lifestyle Mentor as well as a Character Education Specialist. I’m also an educator.

You have such a powerful role in a child’s life. I’m reminded of the quote by Spiderman creator, Stan Lee: “With great power, comes great responsibility.” As an educator, you have a responsibility to provide each child that enters your classroom the opportunity to leave a better thinker, a better questioner, a better person, a better leader.

Character Education

Sure, you may be thinking, “Our school already has a character program.” Or, you may be like many teachers I’ve spoke with who love the idea strengthening life skills in children, but just don’t have the resources to plan and implement anything else.

I get it. I know how challenging working with young people can be, especially when you are bound by the constraints of the system.

You already understand the importance of teaching children to be responsible, accountable, and respectful. You already know what it is like when children get a boost of self-confidence. They become unstoppable. Like most, you know that character education is more than just a lesson; it is a lifestyle. I also know that you are tapped out in terms of time, energy and maybe even ideas.

Again, I get it. Really, I do.

In fact, I get it so much that I started partnering and working with educators, youth clubs, churches and other family/child-centered professionals, just like you, to implement fun, fresh and easy approaches to empower and connect with younger people. Working with five core habits of character, we will blend simple techniques and strategies into the incredible work you are already doing to ignite initiative and problem-solving, strengthen student morale and motivation, boost self-direction and self-esteem, and cultivate a strong sense of community both in the classroom and out.

A few of the ways we do this include:
  • Assemblies and workshops for children, parents and professionals.
  • Hosting/co-hosting special events including expos, community fairs and more.
  • Educator training and teambuilding workshops to learn to better engage today’s youth.
  • Personalized coaching, consultation and evaluation services.
  • Co-create custom programs and curriculum for your group.
  • Emotional Intelligence assessments.

Children must be immersed in activities that reinforce character on a daily basis if they are to truly become the leader’s they are meant to be. To determine the activities that are right for the children in your care, please contact me at info@characterinc.com or 877-485-5222.

With gratitude,

Julie Watson Smith, MHS
