Today’s children are the leaders of tomorrow. (Many are already the leaders of today, too!) Our words and our actions shape their future. It also shapes our future. So, it’s important to ask, “Are you shaping this future – your business’s future - by default or design?"

Hi, I’m Julie Watson Smith, MHS. I’m a Leadership and Lifestyle Mentor as well as a Character Education Specialist. I’m also a business owner.

The young people that we sending into the world are unprepared. Even those that excel in academics are struggling in the “real world.” Why? Academic intelligence only accounts for 20% of one’s success. So, what’s constitutes the other 80%?

I sat down with educators, parents and business leaders to find out exactly what children need to thrive in this world. They agreed that we all need a foundation that serves as an emotional, social and moral compass. They need a foundation of character that creates lifestyle habits of…

• Responsibility, integrity and accountability
• Courage and respect
• Self-direction, self-discipline and self-management
• Creativity, initiative and problem-solving
• Teamwork, perseverance and adaptability
• A spirit of kindness, service and gratitude

THIS is the 80% that strengthens their foundation. This is the 80% that shapes their future. This is the 80% that shapes our future.

Based on this 80%, I have developed a series of fun programs and cool products centered around five core habits of character – Gratitude, Responsibility, Integrity, Perseverance, and Service – that address essential life skills and fundamental leadership qualities.

So, what does that mean to you? Lots! I absolutely love partnering with like-minded businesses, like yours, to implement strategies that strengthen employee morale and motivation, improve customer service, develop consistent practices of character, and build strong relationships in the community.
